FCTA TO ENCOURAGE PRIVATE SECTOR INVOLVEMENT IN EDUCATION

The FCT Administration has reiterated its commitment to continue to encourage involvement of private sector in the establishment of educational institutions in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello made this commitment while receiving a delegation of the American International School, Abuja led by the President, Governing Board, Mrs. Hauwa Maina Ma’aji Lawan that paid him a visit in his office at Area 11, Garki I District, Abuja

He emphasised that the contributions of private schools in the development of education in the Federal Capital Territory can not be overemphasized and urged the private sector to take advantage of the liberalized environment provided by the Administration.

Malam Bello stressed that, FCT Administration would continue to support the private sector to break new grounds in the education sector for the benefit of the entire residents of the Territory in particular, the Minister noted and appreciated the contributions of the American International School to the educational landscape of Abuja.

He also enjoined the school to continue to support teachers in public schools to enable them get more exposed and acquire new techniques of the teaching profession.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and the President of the American International School Governing Board, Mrs. Hauwa Maina Ma’aji Lawan revealed that the school was established in 1993 in a rented apartment but today they are in their permanent site.

She assured that the school would continue to contribute its quota to the development of education in the Territory and strives to improve its immediate community as part of its corporate social responsibility.
