Mallam Isa Yuguda, former governor of Bauchi State, has finally left the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the party in which he served as Governor for about six years for an unknown party.

Isa Yuguda, who addressed journalists on Saturday at a Press Conference through the phone, said that he was leaving the PDP because of personal reasons and because the party lacked the capacity to bring to Nigerians the development they deserve.

He said, “As from today, I have resigned my membership of the PDP because of personal reasons. I have had enough troubles in the party”.

“PDP is no longer the party that can give Nigerians the kind of future they are looking for. I have given serious thought to what has been happening in the party, what has happened to me and what has happened also to our country at large and I felt it will only be wise for me to quit the party.

“Looking back at what happened in the country under the PDP, if I continue staying in the party, I will not be fair not only to myself but to my teeming Bauchi supporters who gave me the mandate to serve them for eight years as Governor.”

According to him, he will not be fair to himself and to his supporters who voted him as Governor if he continued being in the PDP.

When asked where he was speaking from, Yuguda refused to disclosed where he was speaking from and refuted claims that he had joined the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) or had resigned totally from politics.

According to him, he was going to rest from politics for a year or for some months before making any move after wide consultations adding that it was necessary for him to rest haven served his fatherland for 35years.

Yuguda said his followers are at liberty to remain in the party or also leave “if they see what I have seen.”

“I have neither joined APC and my people have not advised me to do so nor have I quit politics.

All I am saying is that I will rest for a while and make consultations with my friends and associates, if they ask me to quit politics, I will quit but if they ask me to continue, I will continue, “he added.

He said he was a fulfilled man haven served as a Bank Managing Director for two different banks for 9 years, Minister of the Federal Republic for 6 years and Governor for eight years.

Former Governor Yuguda said he is praying for President Muhammadu Buhari for God to help him fix this Nigeria.

It could be recalled that Yuguda joined the Bauchi gubernatorial race under the PDP but later dumped it for the then All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) when it was obvious he would not win.

After winning the election in May 2007 under the ANPP platform, Yuguda then decamped back to the PDP on April 14th 2009.
