THE Anambra central senatorial candidate under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) Sharon Ikeazor has revealed that her foray into politics started in 2005 after Sosoliso Aircraft killed about 60 students in Port Harcourt and till date nobody was held accountable and punished for the death of those innocent children, adding that Nigeria is the only country where leaders and public officers are not held accountable for their actions.
She said that she is going into the senate to sponsor legislature that will ensure that people suffer the consequences of their actions or negligence, maintaining that the emergence of President Buhari has put an end to impunity and the society has been sanitized from the strangle hold of a few politicians.
Ikeazor, who stated this yesterday in Abuja also said that she will use her position in the senate to attract federal projects to her constituency and ensure massive infrastructural development in the state.
She also said that she will closely work with the party structure in the state and those of former senator Ekwunife and use the women numerical strength to defeat Chief Victor Umeh of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who is her closest rival.
Addressing newsmen after the event, Sharon said, “The most important thing on my agenda for the people of Anambra is economic development. Our people are traders, basically businessmen and women; we need an Inland seaport, functional inland seaport that is number one, so that our traders can be bringing in their goods into that Inland seaport.
“Number two is the second Niger Bridge. We have all suffered the chaos about the bridge, the contract has been re-awarded several times, many years after and nothing concrete has been done. But now, with this government in place, that is being looked into by the Minister of Works who luckily is a colleague of mine at the bar.
“Then the third one, Federal Roads, we all know the state of Enugu-Onitsha roads. We all suffered it, who is better to bring in the federal presence, federal projects, repairs, all our dues in Anambra but myself who has been the foundation member of APC”, said Sharon.
The senatorial aspirant promised to provide succor to women through financial empowerment and micro credit, and provide better living conditions to widows and internally displaced persons adding that youth restiveness will be addressed through skill acquisition and employment opportunities.
Sharon boasted they she will use the numerical strength of women to get the APGA candidate out of the way.
Hear her, “Do you know the percentage of the voters? The gender percentage of the voters in Nigeria? Or even of our population, we are about 51%, we are using our numerical strength. Majority of the voters in Nigeria are women and I am tapping into that, even my victory in securing the ticket is a victory for women, we have just shown that women voices can be heard, would be heard and have been heard so Anambra men, Chief Victor Umeh would hear the voice of the women on the day of election.
“I am working closely with the state chapter, we have put together the campaign team, I would be down to Anambra tomorrow. My campaign structure that I am using is the state structure, together with Uche Ukwunife’s own, who is collapsing hers into mine for us to win, cause what we are after is for APC to win”.
